The Riverfront Reading Series presents writers Maria Vasquez Boyd and Pat Lawson. Music by Gib Shell.
Pat Lawson writes fiction and poetry. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in I-70 Review, New Letters, Pleaides, Nimrod, Chariton Review, Dalhousie Review, Big Muddy, Thorny Locust, The Same, nycbigcityllit, and elsewhere. She is a member of the Riverfront Readings Committee, the Program Committee for TWP, and a coordinator of a small community garden in KCK. One of her theories about writing well is that it is generally better to avoid too much starchy food before sitting down at the computer.
Maria Vasquez Boyd is a painter/artist/writer and founding member of the Latino Writers Collective. Her work is published in Primera Pagina, Cuentos Del Centro, Everyday Other Things, Salt Magazine, America Now and Here, Kansas City Renga, Present magazine, and other publications. She facilitates writing workshops for the Migrant Workers Project and area schools. She’s also the producer, engineer and host of ArtSpeak Radio, which features live discussion with artists and writers from the surrounding Kansas City community.
